Dr. Chelsea Berges grew up in a small town in Iowa. Her childhood was full of activities including lots of hunting and fishing. As a young teen, she decided she wanted to pursue a career in medicine after hearing stories from medical missionaries from her church congregation. She attended Oklahoma Christian University and later Iowa State University studying pre-med and running track and field as a heptathlete.
Later moving to Texas she studied medicine at the University of North Texas Health Sciences Center in Fort Worth and was a part of the Rural Health program there. She always knew she would end up back in a small town.
While attending Family Medicine residency in McAlester Oklahoma she met her husband Ty Hunter. They have settled down on a small acreage with their 3 dogs, 2 goats, and 28 (and counting) chickens. There are hopes for an alpaca in the near future…as well as children.
She is board-certified in Family Medicine and is excited to offer high-quality medical care in McAlester Oklahoma. She hopes to encourage and motivate the community to avoid preventable chronic diseases and live their life to the fullest.
